Funeral Flowers

When making arrangements for a funeral one should not neglect or over look certain aspects pertaining to the delivery of funeral flowers. The funeral flowers that have been ordered should be sent to the funeral home prior to the viewing or visitation. It is appropriate for the sender to always include a note in condolence even if it is a brief as 'our thoughts and prayers are with you'. This is meaningful and comforting to the family in their time of sorrow. On a more personal aspect, if you happen to know that the deceased or the family liked/likes a particular flower, your arrangement could be of that choice. This shows that the sender has put a lot of thought into it or really cares.

A floral tribute taken along or sent is an appropriate way of expressing one's sympathy to the family in bereavement at the loss of a loved one. Flowers are soothing and offer comfort to the family. Funerals are sad occasions, when everyone near and dear to the deceased is overwhelmed with grief. Flowers/floral tributes bring in some life to a place weighed down with grief and sorrow.

Wreathes symbolize the circle of life and can also be used as an alternative token of condolence instead of a bouquet, spray of flowers or a flower arrangement. These are placed at the place of service or they are taken along to the grave site, to be placed on the tomb.

Religious sentiments can be expressed in a number of ways, from the form of the arrangement to the message on the card. Large elaborate displays like funeral wreaths and funeral sprays are ideal for funeral homes, churches and outside services, however these might look out of place at the home of the bereaved. For delivery to a residence, flowers in a vase or basket are an excellent choice. Some vase arrangements might be quite large and therefore better suited for churches and funeral homes.

Various cultures and religions have different methods, manners and rituals of performing funeral rites. Flowers however are always used and are fitting tributes to the dead and departed.

Conventional colors of white, pink, and pale yellow are the general choice of flowers, however, rare tropical flowers like the heliconia, ginger etc. and red roses do also convey deep warmth. Funeral flowers can be sent even in the immediate days after the death of a loved one. This is an act of caring and brings assurance and cheer to the families trying to over come the loss of their loved one.
