Wedding Flowers
Are you trying to decide what flowers to use at your wedding?
Choosing flowers shouldn't turn your wedding planning into a stressful time. There are only three things you need to consider; location, season and theme.
Location - Where are you having the wedding?
If you are having a wedding in a church or chapel they sometimes have rules regarding the use of live flowers. Check with them before you start your flower selection to make sure what requirements they have.
If you are going to have an indoor event you will want to have decorations that blend in with the theme and season of your wedding. Having flowers at and around the altar and when you first walk into the wedding service area will help to bring a comfortable to the room.
Outdoor events will want to have flowers that reflect the season. If you are having a wedding in a park or another area that has already been landscaped with beautiful flowers you may not need to purchase flowers for the outdoor areas you'll be spending time in.
Season - When are you having your wedding?
Summertime allows for the use of almost any flower. The availability of flowers is high. However, you'll want to order them early, because the demand for them is high as well.
Some suggestions for summer are to have flower colors that reflect the blue skies, the hot sun and brightness of summer. Blues, yellows, pinks, bold purples, deep reds and whites make summer come to life.
Springtime speaks of the pastel color spectrum, baby blues, lavenders, pale yellows, peaches, pinks and light greens. Springtime is full of many flowers in bloom and you can get creative with tropical flowers as well.
Fall speaks of reds, browns, golds and eggplant colors. If you are trying to have seasonal themes stick with these colors. However, if you want to create a spring or summertime atmosphere flower shops can help you to get the colors that reflect them.
Winter colors generally include white, blue, red and green. However the shades of flowers in these colors are many and you can have any shade of them you want.
Theme - What type of theme is your wedding going to have? Is there a color theme?
If you have a specific color theme picking flowers will be easy. Talk to the local florist and find out what flowers are in those colors when you are having your wedding.
If you are having a specific country theme or nationality theme find out what types of flowers are in those areas or what the traditions usually say about the flowers used and find out the availability of them when you are having your wedding.
